Fisherwick for Students

Fisherwick is in an excellent location for access by students, set right in the centre of Queen’s University campus, next door to the physics and engineering building, the architecture department and the new biomedical sciences building.  More than 1,000 students walk past the church daily on their way from the halls of residence to the main university buildings.

Fisherwick’s ministry to students seeks to serve them through fellowship, discipleship, and outreach.  For more information, contact

International Students

In Belfast there are over 3000 overseas students from countries all around the world. When they arrive in Belfast they face separation from family and friends and the challenge of living in a strange country with a new language and culture to adapt to. Fisherwick partners with Friends International (link: to welcome and befriend international students at the start of each academic term thorugh the iWelcome programme. Throughout the year, Fisherwick continues to offer support for students mainly through hospitality.

iMeal: i-Meal is a free meal for international students, coordinated by the Presbyterian Chaplaincy at QUB with support from Fisherwick and other churches in South Belfast. In addition to enjoying a home cooked meal, iMeal is a great place to get to know local students, learn about local culture, and build friendships with fellow international students. Students can learn more about iMeal at

iHost:  iHost is a hospitality scheme organised by Friends International and gives students an opportunity to get to know local people, culture, and places of interest, by being matched with a local family. Friends Internationals hospitality scheme has been running for more than 20 years and for many international students, this has been the highlight of their stay in the UK.  Fisherwick serves as a designated iHost church and hosts dozens of students each year.

Hosts are asked to provide hospitality to one or two students, three times a term. This could include inviting students to your home for a meal, but it could also be simply helping students practically (like shopping or lifts), a local trip, cooking together, etc.

International students can register for iHost through the Friends International App or by emailing
