YOUTH WORKER – Fisherwick Presbyterian Church, Belfast

This is a key post working alongside the Minister and Kirk Session continuing the growth and development of Youth Ministry. This contract is for a 3 year fixed term, subject to funding, at which point the contract may be reviewed and extended. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week.

Main purpose of job

To co-ordinate, develop and grow the work among young people in the congregation (age range 8 years to 18 years), and provide pastoral support to leaders and young people.

Duties and responsibilities

To support the Minister and Kirk Session in developing youth work in the congregation:

  • Be a part of a team to deliver teaching, vision and strategy in relation to young people, children and family life for young people in the 8-18 age profile.
  • Develop key relationships with young people and their parents.
  • Encourage and equip parents in the spiritual nurture of their children and young people.
  • To mentor and train people and leadership teams, helping them grow holistically. Supporting current youth leaders in the congregation through pastoral care, training and resourcing and identifying and equipping new leaders.
  • Assist and support the promotion of ministry to young people and families and encourage their integration into all age congregational life.
  • Co Chair the Youth Committee Working Group.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and the post holder will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the changing requirements of the congregation.
