FINAL PUBLICATION OF THE LIST OF QUALIFIED VOTERS

INVITATION TO SUBMIT NAMES OF POSSIBLE CANDIDATES

With the granting of “Leave to call”, it is also now the responsibility of the Kirk Session to draw up a list of properly qualified ministers who may be possible candidates to fill the present vacancy. An opportunity is therefore being given to all members of the congregation to suggest possible candidates for the Kirk Session’s consideration. In respect of this please note the following:

  • Any names should be submitted in writing to the Clerk of Session (Rosemary Wilson) or to Rev Dr Gordon Campbell as Vacancy Convener, from today to Sunday 23rd February.
  • You should sign your name on the list to be submitted.
  • You should NOT contact any minister regarding this vacancy, as that is the responsibility of the Vacancy Commission and will be done at the appropriate time.

There are two lists displayed at the noticeboard at the back of the church. The first is a draft list of the voting members, as determined by the information we currently hold in the church records. The second is a list of those for whom we have no confirmation of communion having been taken in the “qualifying period” (from the 1st January 2013). If you have taken communion in the “qualifying period”, please provide this information in writing Rev Dr Gordon Campbell, within one week (i.e., by the 16th February).

We are very pleased and thankful to inform you that following the meeting with Union Commission on Tuesday 28th January, “leave to call” has been granted to Fisherwick Presbyterian Church, which means that the congregation are authorised to proceed to look for a new Minister.

A very important step in this process is the review of the Fisherwick Voting Register.

IMPORTANT – VOTING MEMBERS

Notice is hereby given that a draft list of the qualified voters of the congregation of Fisherwick Presbyterian Church is being prepared by the Kirk Session in consultation with the Vacancy Commission. This list shall be printed and circulated to each member of the congregation, therein named, and exhibited on the next two Sundays at Fisherwick Presbyterian Church, the Session being satisfied that this will provide reasonable notice to all voters of the contents of such list.

Voting members are communicants on the roll of the congregation who are listed as having contributed to stipend or weekly freewill offering of the congregation in the last financial year.

In addition a wife shall be qualified on a husband’s contribution, and vice versa, where both are communicants. Where the contributor is not a communicant the spouse shall be qualified providing he or she is a communicant. If neither husband or wife is a communicant, their contribution shall qualify the eldest child, residing in the family, who is on the communicant role.

Those who have been added to the communicants’ roll of the congregation since the close of the last financial year, shall be qualified as voters, upon confirmation by the Treasurer that they have contributed during the current year.
